Of course, this would mean the Poni Kahuna would have to be different, but I always felt that Olivia and Hapu both specializing in types weak to Water and Grass was odd. I couldn't think of a Psychic-type that would fit I only chose the type because the Psychium-Z is in the confines of the area. The Totem is either Palossand or Alolan Dugtrio (Ground).

Possible allies include Hawlucha, Cutiefly and Pikipek/Trumbeak.Ī Ground- or Psychic-type trial in the Haina Desert, hosted by Hapu/a new character. I feel like this would also flesh out Kahili's character a bit more. The Totem is Pom-Pom Oricorio, and you have to defeat all of its other forms before you can battle it. This is why I propose:Ī Flying-type trial in Melemele Meadow, hosted by Kahili. I've also always wondered why Melemele and Ula'ula have fewer trials than Akala Melemele is the most populous island iirc and Ula'ula is the largest by area. The same goes for the Haina Desert: they don't allow you to enter it until you clear Acerola's trial, and even then you needn't go there you're shipped on back to the Aether House. I feel like there's so much wasted potential in such an interesting part of the game, geography-wise. The same goes for the northwestern side of Ula'ula island: You have to go all the way up to PO Town just so you can save a preschooler's Yungoos. The only reason the game gives for having to go on Route 3 is to find Lillie, when they could have made it so that there was a second Melemele trial in the area to give you a reason to go to the Meadow and cave without having to drag yourself through the dialogue.
Though USUM gave us one more, I feel like there are just so many unnecessary quests just to get you places. IMO, Sun and Moon didn't have enough trials.
